Warrior MMA

The Warrior MMA class teaches basic to advanced mixed martial arts.  Jiu jitsu, wrestling, boxing, and kickboxing techniques and concepts are learned by repetition.  Movement drills and conditioning help develop a body adapted to the challenges of physical combat.  Some standing concepts covered include: striking, evasion, blocking and countering, movement and distance, strike chains, creating and using angles, using and moving in and out of the clinch, and setting up and defending take downs.  Some ground concepts covered include: submissions, set-ups, escapes, transitions, posture control, movement chains, and ground and pound.

Shadow boxing and shadow grappling train the body to the motion allowing for smoother application of technique.  They are also easy to learn and add to a daily workout routine for maximum benefit.  Sparring at the end of class is recommended and should be treated as a drill, not a fight. When sparring is done well, you can test and develop techniques, learn and apply control to maintain safety, acclimate yourself to giving and receiving strikes and submissions, and challenge your cardiovascular ability.  Advice on nutrition/diet and exercise for competition, weight loss, and health/wellness is available.

Mixed martial arts fighters, kick boxers, and Jiu Jitsu competitors will benefit from the class content, structure, and intensity.  Those who already have a wrestling or martial arts background can learn new techniques and adapt them into their current arsenal.  Mixed martial arts translates well to self-defense scenarios as a results-oriented blending of styles.  It applies well as a self-defense art for any age. Any man, woman, or child interested in MMA, martial arts, self-defense, or adding a challenging variety to their workout routine will find something for them in this class.
